While being best known for starring in several cult films of the early eighties such as the Giallo shocker “White Slave“ and the wonderfully ridiculous “Iron Master“ (alongside Pamela Prati), Elvire Audray demonstrated with the song “Myself“ her undoubted appeal as a vocalist as well. Her sultry, seductive yet playful tone is perfect for creating the archetypal Italo-Disco sound that emanates from every groove of this obscure little gem. What also makes this a standout track is the prominent use of guitars combined with raw and low-fi percussion, rather than just synthesizers; these give it a very organic feel, and the cheesy male vocals that make up the chorus are brilliantly juxtaposed against Elvire’s gentler, more subtle ones. Sadly this seems to have been her only foray into the recording industry, which is a real shame, although in some ways it does make the record all the more special.
