I’m going fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast, in early November 2022. Some people have said to me there is nothing left on the beaches to find-where have all the fossils gone ? Well it’s been “fair weather “ fossil hunting this summer, there hasn’t been any rough weather around. When the real Wintery weather arrives the mudslides will get activated by the rain. The big waves and rough seas will wash fossils out of the mudslides and onto the beaches at low tide! I’d like to find some of the beautiful little pyrite ammonites that wash out along the beach at low tide. Little nuggets of gold delight, saved from the shifting sands. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right little rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer foss
