Located a little bit north of Tokyo near the Tokyo Bunkyo Civic Center and Tokyo Dome, Rikugien belongs to a group of nine parks in Tokyo managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association. Thanks to a staff dedicated to maintaining this park, Rikugien is among of the most beautiful parks you can find in Tokyo. It features some stunning scenery at night during the turning leaves season when the park if fully lit-up. Build around 1700 for the 5th Tokugawa Shogun, Rikugien is another good example of park design from the Edo Period and comes with a story of its own! Rikugien literally means, The ‘six poems garden, and here you can see reproductions in miniature, of 88 scenes from famous Japanese poems!
