New featherweight material polystyrene, being used for sculpture and large jigsaw puzzles, London & Clacton in Essex. C/U of sculptor John Sales tapping away at large sculpture of women with mallet and chisel. M/S of women walking over and simply picking the large structure up and walking away. We are told by the commentator that this is made of the new light - weight material polystyrene that “...expands to sixty times its original volume in manufacture.“ Various shots of sculptors working away on the material, they are filing using knives and heated electrical blades that melt the material. Numerous different sculptures on show. John Sales cuts out large jigsaw puzzle piece with cutting machine. C/U of Butlin’s / Butlins redcoat throwing large pieces of polystyrene jigsaw into swimming pool at Clacton holiday camp.
