Morocco Reluctant To Accept Quake Aid — Report According to the WaPo, Washington is still waiting for a reply from the Moroccan Interior Ministry about the US offer of humanitarian, technical, and other aid following the deadly earthquake that claimed more than 2,500 lives. France, Germany, Italy, and the UN have reportedly ignored or rejected offers. At the same time, rescue teams have only been received from the UK, Qatar, Spain, and the UAE - which the ministry called “friendly countries.” The UN Secretary General’s deputy spokesperson, Farhan Haq, claimed the Moroccan government is “trying itself to mobilize aid,” unlike previous disaster recoveries which the organization has coordinated.
