Nicknamed “Ice“, He won the IBF Cruiserweight title and was a major force in the division until moving up to Heavyweight, where he had less success. In 2001 Cole portrayed boxer Ernie Terrell in the film Ali. Standing at 6'4 with an 80 inch reach, Cole was able to utilise his superior size and physical strength at Cruiserweight whereas he didn't have those advantages at Heavyweight which was a big factor in a majority of his losses. He retired with a professional record of 35-16-3 (16 KO's).
