The Scythians were a nomadic people of the vast Eurasian steppe. They boasted a rich art culture and played a pivotal role in several historical events, including the forging and destruction of various empires. These noble horse-lords were viewed as enigmatic by neighboring civilizations such as the Greeks and Persians. The only extensive research conducted in ancient times about these people was done by Herodotus in his work 'The Histories.' In addition to this, most of the knowledge we have today about the Scythians comes from archaeological excavations that began in the 18th century and continue to this day. In this video, we will showcase the chronological history of the Scythians and explore their fascinating culture. 00:00 - 01:12 Introduction 01:12 - 05:15 Landscape and Culture 05:15 - 26:21 Chronological History 26:22 - 32:52 Scythian Art 32:53 - 34:25 Clothing and Tattoos 34:26 - 46:10 Kings, Chieftains and Royal Tombs 46:11 - 53:30 Warfare and Weapons 53:31 - 01:05:02 Religion and Mythology 01:05:03 - 01:07:55 Language 01:07:56 - 01:08:46 Epilogue Note: Please excuse the technical mistake with the image on the right during 23:18-23:58.
