Join us: In a shocking incident that unravelled on Monday, at least 30 young women, hailing from the three Barak Valley districts, have levelled allegations of sex trafficking against a placement agency, Valeur Fabtex Pvt Ltd, that offered placements to the women after six months of skill-building certificate course at Silchar. The company purportedly enticed these girls with promises of nursing appointments in reputed hospitals in Delhi and Haryana. Valeur Fabtex Private Limited is a National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Non-Funded Training Partner, founded in 2012 and according to their website, they have conducted livelihood generation programmes in North-East India in 17 sectors. It provides skill training as a partner of the National Skill Development Cooperation. The matter came to light when 18 of the girls managed to escape from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and returned home to Silchar on Monday. They visited the office of the Cachar Superintendent of Police and launched a complaint. According to their allegations, upon reaching Delhi on February 15, the girls were taken to a hostel located in a red-light area in Kapashera, Delhi, contrary to the assurances given to them. Expressing shock and dismay, the girls revealed that despite being promised jobs and accommodation in Delhi, they were instead placed far from the city. “The mentor who went there along with us also left after two days without informing us. The hostel where we were kept was not safe and there was no security and warden as we were promised,” said one of the victims. Furthermore, they were transferred to different locations, with half sent to Haryana and the rest to Ghaziabad. The placement agency has, however, refuted the sex trafficking claims levelled against them. The agency claimed that the allegations were being made to tarnish their image. “I left from there as I got a medical emergency. I was always in touch of the students and never left them alone,” said the mentor who assisted the students to Delhi. Meanwhile, authorities have launched an investigation into the matter to apprehend those responsible and ensure justice for the victims. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta mentioned that he himself took the statement of the victims and monitored the case. #EastMojo #EastStory #northeastindia #northeast #assam #humantraffickingawareness #skilldevelopment #nsdc #cachar ***** Subscribe: ***** Visit our website: Facebook: Twitter: Instagram: *****
