Myth Salon - The Art of Burton Kopelow: Squaring the Circle

Squaring the Circle derives from the art and philosophy of visionary California colorist, Burton Kopelow who brought forth abstract, mystical mandalas reflecting his interest in Jung, alchemy, consciousness, Theosophy, eastern mysticism, and personal transformation. He developed the idea of Chromorphism, which codified a philosophical vision that was centered on Theosophy, Tibetan Thangka paintings, and the core concepts of CG Jung, especially Jung's psychology of mandalas that he considered expressions of the total Self. This Myth Salon accompanies an exhibit currently installed at the Philosophical Research Society. Our panel will include exhibit curator David Orr, Sandra del Castillo, PhD., a ritual artist and spokesperson for the exhibit, and Nancy Blumstein, Kopelow's widow and author of the stunning retrospective book, Burton Kopelow: Paths of Discovery. Orr is himself a mandala artist currently creating “moon mandalas“ and releasing them on a weekly basis. He writes,
