Who knows, in the history books of the future, maybe the first shot of the third world war has already happened, here in our time. Final Day is Bring the Hoax's first single of 2023 and is included in the band's debut album “Single Coil Candy”, which will be released in May this year. “Final Day” is a slightly apocalyptic title, and it reflects the feeling of the band when the song was written in March 2022, shortly after Russian troops occupied eastern Ukraine. The lyrics underwent several different shades of aggression, and some versions were far more agitative then the final narrative. But with some reflection and the realization that it is hatred and tyranny that we want to see an end to, a more contemplative and perhaps pleading angle was chosen as this comment on the horrific war that is happening. The musical arrangement revolves around dynamics and the struggle between a stable calm and a threatening chaos. Daily life is not the same anymore. We are all trying to continue to live as if nothing has happened and maintain our calm, but at the same time, we must suppress the reality where there is a raging war closer to our borders than we have ever experienced. The conflict between the two feelings is the recurring musical theme in “Final Day”. The guitars are dirty and contagious. Drums, bass, and vocals are also muddy like after a rainy day in the mud. Despite this, the music explodes early in the song and continues as an angry train with increasing energy and punch in the rhythm. “Final Day is a powerful and passionate song that speaks about the intense desperation for peace and stability.” - Hasse Karlsson “Everyone knows desperation.
