On May 9, members of Berlin’s Russian community, along with friends and supporters, gathered for the annual ’Immortal Regiment’ march to honor Soviet soldiers who fought during World War II. The peaceful procession saw participants holding portraits of their relatives who served in the war. The march culminated at the Tiergarten, home to the Soviet War Memorial, which serves as the final resting place for thousands of Red Army soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Nazi Germany. Though Victory Day is not a public holiday in Germany, it is deeply observed by Russian and CIS diaspora communities, as well as many others around the world, in remembrance of the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945. #live #victoryday #russia
