Sweden’s SHXCXCHCXSH duo (don’t pronounce it with a mouthful of cake) tilt through 15 inclement techno zones in their 3rd album together for Shifted’s Avian label after a slight pause in the production line since 2014. SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs is the sound of their hardware spontaneously warming up in a cold bunker somewhere in the Swedish wilds, synching with the roots of the forest and underground mushroom rhizomes in some cyborganic fusion, or so we’d imagine. Between the opening Ss and the closure of SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs they prove a funny but cack hand at nomenclature, but consistently seduce with a mix of romantic pads, rubbled, mineral rhythm and ecological dynamics that should likely keep anyone into FiS, Akkord, or Peder Mannerfelt completely rapt throughout.
