Jump Animation (Explained in 50 seconds)

Full infographic was sent out to our TOAnimate email-list. You can find it here: ⏩ A jump consists of these main poses: Neutral - the rest pose before the jump starts. Antic - crouching down to gather energy for the jump (squash), the arms swing behind the body. Stretch - the moment right before leaping off the ground. Jump - the highest position of the jump. Contact - the moment the character touches the ground again (often a stretch). Overshoot - the character continues traveling down and forward due to the leftover momentum. Recovery - the final rest pose, no more forward momentum. ⏩ A jump is just like a bouncing ball! While the character is in the air, the forward travel needs to be linear (no slowing down or speeding up). The vertical travel will be faster on the way up and down, with a moment of hover in the top position. 🚀 Check out TOAnimate:
