Julian Rocks is a hotspot for a wide range of friendly sharks. They have year round migrations of both Grey Nurse Sharks in the winter and Leopard Sharks in the summer. There's also a massive population of Wobbygong Sharks, anemone fish, and turtles (Loggerhead, Green Sea and Hawksbill Turtles) that reside at the dive site year round. It's a haven for scuba divers to explore, but given it's relatively shallow depth, only 7-8m in parts it's also epic for both snorkelling and freediving as well! This short underwater film was shot with Sundive Byron Bay - they run a wild trip right out of Byron Bay, departing pretty much daily from Wategoes Beach. Also side note - these Grey Nurse Sharks (or Sand Tiger Sharks if you're American) are critically endangered as they were targeted by fishermen in the late 90's due to their fierce appearance. It's fantastic to see such a large population of them residing at Julian Rocks every winter! For more visit my website: & check out my Instagram
