Opening scenes from Polanski (1971), BBC (2005), Wright (2006), Goold (2010), Kurzel (2015) This is a useful resource with which to explore different interpretations of Macbeth. The five film versions used in the video are very different and will hopefully lead to some interesting discussions in your classrooms :). Polanski (1971): Traditional interpretation of the play. BBC (2005): Modern adaptation of the play in which Macbeth is the sous chef of a three star Michelin restaurant. The Binmen who collect the waste from the restaurant are the Witches. Wright (2006): Modern adaptation of the play set in Melbourne, Australia. The accents in this one are a bit special even to my ears, and I'm Australian. Goold (2010: Modern adaptation of the play that subtly links Macbeth to Joseph Stalin. Kurzel (2015): Traditional setting of the play, however there are significant changes to the script in parts and non traditional plot lines have been introduced (e.g. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth'
