Pretty virtuosic piece that required a lot of work from my side. It's written in a variation form, there is a clear melody from this “chant“, and it gets more virtuosic after every variation. The final one being pretty advanced really. To me it feels like a surprisingly serious and passionate piece, no litte jokes or so, very severe and very “minor“. One could also say, quite tragic. Nowakowski (1800-1865) was a polish pianist, composer and teacher. In the years 1821 - 1826 he was a student at the Warsaw Conservatory , where he studied composition with Jozef Elsner and piano with Wilhelm Würfel . It was then that he became friends with Fryderyk Chopin. In 1836 he and Chopin visited Robert Schumann in Leipzig. At the end of his life, he suffered from paralysis. Most of the music is for piano (etudes, polonaises, counter-redances, around 60 mazurkas), influenced by Chopin's oeuvre. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - A method to find scores: - My donation link to keep the channel growing: Thanks for listening :-)
