Be inspired by a wide-ranging special presentation from the legendary artist Christo, celebrated worldwide for environmental works that are monumental yet ephemeral. Over a 50-year collaboration with his wife and artistic partner Jeanne-Claude, the pair created large-scale site-specific works including “The Gates” in Central Park, “Wrapped Reichstag,” “The Umbrellas,” the “Pont Neuf Wrapped” and “Valley Curtain.” Following his most recent success, “The Floating Piers” on Italy’s Lake Iseo, he is devising plans for “The Mastaba,” a permanent, Islamic-inspired project for Abu Dhabi that will be the largest sculpture in the world, made from 410,000 multi-colored oil barrels. New York Times culture reporter Robin Pogrebin will host the evening and make an extended introduction.
