Monasteries of Meteora Greece were built by hermit Monks hundreds of years ago. These spectacular religious sites are built atop thousand foot columns of solid rock. The idea behind these colossal perches was to be closer to God and further away from civilization. Each brick for these building were hoisted up by a bucket one at a time with a rope and pulley system. It took many years to build each one. UFO's have been known to frequent the area.
