Two X-Flares detected on August 5, 2024. The first event was an X1.7 at 13:40 UTC off the west limb around departing sunspot region 3767. This flare was associated with a CME that is headed to the west and away from Earth. A small uptick in particle levels tied to that event is currently being observed, but so far remains below the minor (S1) radiation storm threshold. The second event, an X1.1 flare around AR 3780 in the southeast quadrant, also produced a CME. So far it looks to be headed mostly to the east and away from Earth. Earth seems to be doing a good job as of late dodging these events. Stay tuned to for the latest space weather news and information.
