The Similarities and Differences between Biden and FDR - Richard Wolff Global Capitalism

This is a clip from the May 2021 Global Capitalism lecture by Richard D. Wolff, in which he compares the similarities and differences between current President Biden and past President Franklin Roosevelt. Both oversaw the worst economic crashes of US capitalism in this history of this country, but how did they respond to it? “Both Biden and Roosevelt were centrists and both went further once they got in and took the full measure of how bad the crash of capitalism was… [But] nothing Mr Biden is proposing has the scope, the size and the social impact of what Roosevelt did… When it comes to taxes I would argue that the similarities are smaller and the differences even larger… Every dollar over $28,000 [comparable to about $400,000 today] that a rich person earned in the mid 40s in this country in the United States, 94 cents of that dollar went to Uncle Sam and the rich person kept 6 cents.
