“Lachrimae pavan“ is a seminal work: it's of course the most famous lute solo in John Dowland's oeuvre and probably in all lute music, but, aside from that, it has personal significance to me. I used to play this piece to my father during his last days in a hospice. Those final times of playing to him will remain in my memory forever. That must be the reason why - although I didn't consciously choose this piece for this special project - it still was, in retrospect, the only possible choice as a memorial for my brother-in-law.
