The animation depicts the construction and collapse of the Sadd Al-Kafara Dam in Egypt. It is dated in the early Old Kingdom, circa 2,700-2,600 BC. This dating makes it one of the oldest dams in the world, and certainly the world’s oldest large-scale dam whose remains still stand today. It’s construction was never finished, the dam must have collapsed before its completion due to a flood.
