A magnitude 7.4 earthquake shakes Taiwan! Dozens of houses collapsed in Hualien County!

On Wednesday morning, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Taiwan. It was the strongest earthquake to hit the island in at least 25 years. The earthquake occurred at 07:58 local time, when people were going to work and school. Later, dozens of aftershocks were recorded. The epicenter was located at a depth of 35 km, 18 km south of the city of Hualien. The earthquake was felt in the Chinese province of Fujian, as well as in Shanghai. A tsunami warning was issued for southern Japan and the Philippines. The Japan Meteorological Agency said several small tsunami waves reached parts of Okinawa Prefecture.
