This is one of my own patients, who had an internal hernia a few years out from gastric bypass. I certainly make a habit of suturing these defects closed at the time of the primary procedure, but sometimes (less than 1% of the time) the closure re-opens at some point and a surprising amount of intestine can get caught up in the hernia. This particular internal hernia was up through the transverse mesocolic defect. Fortunately, the intestine was mildly irritated but not damaged. The video is edited to important segments, and runs at twice real speed.
