With the introductions of the Chip Gates, Dark Soul AI, and Wireless Adapter support, the series requires a series of flag before executing certain functions. While 4, 4.5, and 6 have loading times as well, the differences aren't as abundant as 5's. It's not as long in 6, as the game no longer has to check to load the Dark Soul. If you ever wondered why 5 GBA takes forever for PRESS START to appear, it's due to a flag on that screen to recognize any external connection check. Crossover Battle for Wireless Adapters, and Operation Battle mode for the Gate. 6 “remedied“ this by checking the flag at the CAPCOM logo. It's the reason why when you soft reset in 6, it starts from there and not the title screen logo.
