Call for a European strategy to counter hostage diplomacy

If some MEPs had their way, the EU would adopt an American approach to hostage diplomacy, which typically ends in people getting killed, or families getting into debt to pay ransoms. We need a diplomatic approach to situations like this that puts people ahead of geopolitical games.
