The Wii remote doesn’t turn on and the button on the nunchuck controller are not working. Upon closer examination it turn out the Wiimote has corrosion and the battery contact has become loose. I assume old batteries were left in the controller and they leaked. The acid then caused the corrosion. The battery contact was re-plated with nickel and soldered back on. Nickel plating tutorial: The nunchuck was much easier to fix. The rubber pad under the buttons had only moved slightly to a bad position which caused the buttons to not work. The shells of the controllers were also a bit yellowed so I put them in my retrobrighting box to remove the yellowing.
