we would like to talk about our unique mix of the famous Turkish classical piece “Yine Bir Gülnihal“ by Ismail Dede Efendi. We wanted to explore what the piece would sound like if it were created in a different time and place, and we imagined how it would sound if Ismail Dede Efendi were to live in Europe during the time of Johann Strauss, the “Waltz King“. We were intrigued by the idea of fusing two distinct musical genres and creating a unique mix that showcases the beauty of both styles. To accomplish this, we decided to transform the original piece, which was written in a single voice, into a multi-voice waltz form that was popular in Europe during Strauss's time. We wanted to retain the original essence of the piece while incorporating elements of the waltz form to create a harmonious blend of Turkish classical and European waltz music.
