While still a student, he worked for the architect Noé Diniz and with Álvaro Siza for five years. Along with his architectural office in Porto, Souto de Moura teaches at the University of Porto, and is a visiting professor in Geneva, Paris-Belleville, Harvard, Dublin and ETH Zurich and Lausanne. Among numerous other national and international awards, Eduardo Souto de Moura has received the Pessoa Prize in 1998, the FAD Prize in 2005, the Ibero-American Prize for Architecture and Urbanism in 2006, the Pritzker Prize in 2011 and the 'Leone d'Oro' Prize at the Venice Biennale in 2018. He is also an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects, an international member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and, since 2022, a member of the French Academy of Architecture.
