Строительство Большеохтинского моста (Мост Петра Великого) Санкт-Петербург 1909-1911 Construction of the Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge (Peter the Great Bridge) St. Petersburg 1909-1911 Музыка: Ф.Мальцев - вальс 'Утро в Финляндии' Music; F. Maltsev - waltz 'Morning in Finland Bolsheoykhtinsky Bridge - a drawbridge across the Neva River in St. Petersburg . The first of the St. Petersburg bridges across the Neva River with a ride to the bottom (the carriageway is located at the level of the bottom of the span) and a draw-span in the middle of the river . The route of the future bridge across the Neva in the Okhta region was first identified by Nicholas I in 1829, with the approval of a prospective plan for St. Petersburg . However, the construction of a permanent bridge at that time was an unsolvable task and only boat transportation operated on this route. By the 1880s the question of building a bridge that would connect the city with the Okhta suburb, was again actively discussed in the Duma. The solemn laying of the bridge took place on June 27 ( July 10 ), 1909 , on the day of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava . Originally named the Bridge of Peter the Great, the name was changed to Bolsheoykhtinsky Bridge
