For those unfamiliar with the term; in the Pekiti-Tirsia system of Filipino martial arts, the Alphabito is a set of combinations in our single stick material that targets the opponents left arm, using the letters of the alphabet as a basis for the striking patterns. The Alphabito set follows one that emphasizes left hand strikes, so it can be seen as a counter to that set: but it is also a good mental warm up for Espada y Daga work, where the left hand with the knife is a major concern in the fight. The original Alphabito was based on the Baybayin script of the pre-colonial Philippines and was used like a magic charm, ie, you would attack the opponent with the word “KILL” or “DIE”.
