Pathe have rights to clips in Time to Remember programmes but not to commentary or whole programme as screened. Reel 4. 01:17:56 Cars in streets in London, the streets are crowded with people. They are demonstrating their support for Italy's entry into World War One against Austria. People are walking along the streets. Some carry flags. High angle shot of large crowds held back by police. Some of the crowd appear to be holding Italian flags. Closer shot shows some people on the balcony of building. (The voice over suggests that this is the Italian Embassy). More crowds of Italians and Italian supporters in London. 01:18:40 Dark shot of Italian troops marching. Italian troops moving on skis through snow covered landscape. They are dragging a sledge behind them. Italian troops skiing down wooded hillside. 01:19:03 Group of British soldiers tossing colleague in the air from sheet. Men standing outside tent getting tattoos done. Men walking away from tents with kit bags slung over their shoulders. Troops marching along road. Troops line up for inspection at the railway embarkation point. The troops are inspected by Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught. The troops raise their hats in a cheer. Prince Arthur shakes hands with the officers in front of railway carriage. People waving off train filled with troops. A stills cameraman takes a picture. Troops waves from the carriage windows as the train pulls out. People standing on the platform wave goodbye. 01:20:07 Warship sails towards camera, it is painted with camouflage patterns. Ship moves through high seas. Several naval vessels firing their guns (apparently during the engagement at Dogger Bank). Ship lists as it starts to sink. As the ship sinks under the water, sailors can be seen leaping into the sea. She capsizes completely, men can be seen running across the hull as it rolls. (Voice over suggests this is the German battleship (Battle cruiser) Blucher, it is in fact thought to be the Sven Isvan). 01:20:46 U-boat submarine with its conning tower just above the surface. High angle shot of torpedo skimming through water. Ship explodes. 01:20:56 Woman buying food in shop. Woman cutting cheese in food shop. Woman weighing and shaping butter on old fashioned scales. People standing in street. Man walking across road with suitcase. Small group of children. (Apparently survivors from sinkings.) 01:21:37 Smashed windows in German owned shops. A policeman walks in front of one of the shops. He appears to be moving people on. Burnt and smashed building. C/U on damaged clock advertising coals. C/U face of a pocket watch . 01:22:13 Soldier presses plunger on detonator. Large explosion. Officer blows whistle and men go over the top out of trench. Soldiers climbing up ladders out of trenches. Troops run forwards in to smoke. More troops out of trenches. Scots piper - Laidlaw (sp.?) out of trench and playing. Soldiers follow him out of trench. hand to hand combat in German trenches. (This is faked footage of an incident during the Battle of Loos, paperwork suggests ABPC material.) 01:23:33 German Prisoners of War marching. Prisoners eating bread. Ambulances pulling away from British railway station. Crowds of people are looking on. Injured troops with walking sticks march past camera. Several of them wave. Injured troops sitting in open air wing of hospital. Injured men playing bowls. The walk towards the camera to check who has won that end. Injured man lies in bed. At is bedside are other colleagues, one of whom has a bandaged head. The man in bed plays draughts with one of his fellows. 01:24:49 Graves marked with wooden crosses on hillside over looking sea at Gallipoli. C/U of wooden cross with cap hanging from it. Turkish soldiers look at cross. (This may also be faked footage from ABPC). 01:25:11 Crowd attend meeting in Hyde Park, London. A man is addressing the meeting. There is a show of hands or vote. 01:25:26 Car arriving past crowd. David Lloyd George out of car and greeted.
