Female serpae tetras are also larger and fuller in the body, even when not spawning. Fin In male serape tetra, the dorsal fin is fully black. In females, the dorsal fin is paler. Shape During the mating process female serape tetras tend to become much fuller due to carring eggs. Males are slimer than females. shape During spawning period , females vent comes outside from the body, which is clearly visible.
