Date: March 1 & 2, 2013 Location: FIU School of Music | Herbert and Nicole Performing Arts Center Website: | Box Office at FIU Opera Theater presents George Fridric Handel’s comic opera, “Agrippina“, a gripping tale of love, lust, and intrigue. “Agrippina“ is an opera seria set in Ancient Rome. Composed for the 1709--1710 Venice Carnevale season, the opera tells the story of Agrippina, the wife of the Emperor of Rome, Claudius, and follows her attempts to push her son, Nero, onto the throne. Agrippina stops at nothing to shove aside Nero’s competitors. The production of this performance featured The FIU Symphony Orchestra and was conducted/directed by Grzegorz Nowak. Robert Dundas, coordinator of the choral studies program, served as stage director. There were two casts starring FIU students Evelyn Saavedra, Vindhya Khare, Anjane Girwarr, Sarah Payne, among many others.
