Edmonton's chief of police Dale McFee spoke to the media about a series of violent events at city hall on Tuesday, saying it was incredibly lucky that no one was injured or killed. The police chief said a heavily armed suspect acted alone when he entered city hall from the underground parkade, fired shots and threw a Molotov cocktail from the building's second floor. Several gunshots were heard before a man was detained by police. The incident happened as Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, several city councillors, the city’s fire chief, city staff and journalists were inside the building attending an emergency management committee meeting.
