Steve Coogan has defended the BBC’s new Jimmy Savile drama, following criticism the programme omitted any dramatisation of the broadcaster's “cover-up“. Savile is played by Coogan in the The Reckoning, which had been commissioned by the BBC to confront “the horrors of the past”, however does not dramatise the broadcaster shelving a Newsnight investigation into the abuser.
