The government have sneaked an amendment into their data protection bill which would give them the power to monitor the bank accounts of anyone in receipt of any state benefits, including the state pension. A clear sign that they intend to means test it if they can get away with it. It seems strategically questionable for the Tories to be threatening income from their main voting group.
