AKA The Threnody for the Town of Szydłów / The lyrical portrait of Szydłów, formerly a town and now a village in the region of Kielce, was yet another step on the filmmaker’s way in search for his own artistic focus and style. One of the first films made by Dziworski is a harbinger of what will become his fully fledged style as he develops as an artist: surprising framing, deformed sound recording, slow, accelerated and backward motion, no verbal communication and the superior role of an image.
