Jan Zelezny broke the javelin world record on 06/04/1993 with a distance of in South Africa. Off the back of his recent world title victory, Zelezny competed in Sheffield and in ideal conditions he threw just short of the record in round 2 but exceeded it by 12cm in round 3. At the time of posting this video these two throws are the second and third longest in history behind his set in 1996.
