The 2022 Cross Country Chase presented by Motorcycle Cannonball The Cross Country Chase is back!! This time nearly 100 riders riding Antique Motorcycles between the years of 1930 thru 1960 tackle Historic Route 66. This is the ultimate challenge of Man vs. Machine, Follow along as we show you a brief overview and some of the stories and tribulations of the riders as they maneuver Route 66 over a 10 day period starting in Springfield, IL (the home of Abe Lincoln) and ending on the Santa Monica Pier on the coast of California See which rider will be crowned the “Legend“ and which riders struggle to make it across the country on these ancient motorcycles. Not only is the Cross Country Chase a challenge of Man vs. Machine it is also a competition of Speed, Navigation, Endurance and Knowledge. Endurance: Riders and Machines will compete an average of 250 miles per day over a 10-day period. Riders and Machines could endure fatigue, mental exhaustion, cold, heat, elevations, and all the ferocious elements of Mother Nature. Riders will navigate the course of The Cross Country Chase on their own, no support crews of any kind will be allowed during the event. Riders will have to think about what they need to pack to make it the duration; tools, parts, and luggage must be packed on your motorcycle. It is just you, your motorcycle, and some of the best 2-lane roads of North America. Navigation: Riders will have to successfully navigate the 9-day, 2400 mile route without going off course or getting lost. The Cross Country Chase will provide riders with a Navigation Map each morning that will give turn-by-turn instructions based on mileage. Speed: Riders and Machines will compete an average of 250 miles per day over a 10-day period. Riders and Machines could endure fatigue, mental exhaustion, cold, heat, elevations, and all the ferocious elements of Mother Riders and Machines will be challenged to complete stages in a timed fashion, which will require maintaining certain speeds, strategically planned stops, and managing time throughout the day to check in to the final daily checkpoint at the required time. Knowledge Riders will be given a 120-question test that will cover aspects of the route and American Motorcycling history which will count towards each rider’s final score.
