The Esperante GTR-1. Another of those mythical pieces of automotive history that I've never thought I would have been able to see in person (still remember the 4,500,000 credits needed to purchase it on Gran Turismo 4). But during the 2019 Dix Mille Tours by Peter Auto at Circuit Paul Ricard, my friend Italiansupercarvideo and I were able to record not one but 2 of them being raced in the Endurance Racing Legends championship. They are both managed by French specialists JMB Classic and they were raced by Olivier Galant (the silver Visteon) and Xavier Galant (white Toad) during the whole weekend. The GTR-1 was built for the FIA GT Championship GT1 class, featuring a Ford-derived V8 engine, developed by Panoz's Élan Power Products company, mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox. It was able to produce 600 hp at 8,000 rpm and 678 Nm of torque. Enjoy the sound of the two GTR-1s in action around the French track and then jump on board with Olivier (who was really kind to let me put my GoPro Hero 7 inside the cockpit) during Thursday's free practices for the very first exit of the silver Visteon after the restoration. #Panoz #PanozEsperante #PanozEsperanteGTR1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have to thank my friend and Youtuber Italiansupercarvideo with whom I decided to set up a collaboration for the event.
