For my second feature of Dungeon Synth Sunday this week, I am very pleased to present the avantgarde dungeon synth of Edward Longo’s Sunken Basilica – also known for his work in the supernatural Southern gothic black metal bands Primeval Well and Vile Haint, orchestral BM band SkyThala, and the (even) more experimentally freeform Skin Tension, and Spintria. An individual of exquisite accomplished talents and an exceptional ear for intriguing musical dimensions. With Sunken Basilica, he opens a portal to a world of ‘impressionist dungeon synth’ and contemporary classical music, drawing from French organists such as Dupre and Langlais to produce a kaleidoscope of ever shifting orchestral melodies and rhythms with a sense of dark, queasy, unsettling noir suspense. The album is released to cassette by Fiadh Productions, in a limited edition of 30 Pro duplicated and printed green foil-shell cassette with full-color J-card in clear Norelco cases.
