(20 Mar 1975) RR7512A CAMBODIA THE AGONY OF PHNOM PENH The end of the five year old war in Cambodia has come significantly nearer in recent weeks as Communist rebels - the Khmer Rouge - have drawn an ever-tightening noose around the capital. This report looks at life in Phnom Penh: the carnage, the overcrowded hospitals, the starving refugees, the exodus from the city, the American airlift, and the hard-pressed Cambodian army. It also includes background film on President Lon Nol, and shows Prince Sihanouk and Khmer Rouge commander-in- chief Khieu Samphan touring the so-called “liberated areas“ in 1973.
