#basantkabra #sarod #paramparikconference #maihargharana #paramparik #zilakafi Here is a melodic Zila Kafi by the most accomplished and acclaimed Shri Basant Kabra, nephew of the Shri Brij Bhushan Kabra and son of the Shri Damodar Lal Kabra. In his sarod we find the rigour, a devoted seriousness that is likely the afterglow of the talim that came from the legendary persona Shrimati Annapurna Devi. His style has a curious blend of mijaz, the gravitas of dhrupad, and occasionally, fast staccato phrases laid out over tense, poignant melodic lines, as we’ll see. He has been accompanied on the tabla by Shri Parimal Chakraborty, one of the senior disciples of Shri Shankar Ghosh. --------------------------------------- Paramparik, for more than 20 years, has remained a unique organization with a unique vision, in the city of joy, a well known name in the Indian Classical music circles - for no-frills music that has mijaz, raagdari, and melody. Founded in 2001 by the Kotali Gharana exponent Ruchira Panda, it started with the famed annual classical conference and then in 2003 the rural education and medical units became functional. Today Paramparik is very well known in the remote villages of Bengal - due to a very successful Grad/Post-Grad Scholarship Program for financially poor students. At the same time, almost all the greats of Hindustani Classical Music have performed on the Paramparik stage. -------------------------------------- - Since 2001. 8000 lives.
