In This Video We Are Looking At The August 2024 (240818) version of CachyOS , an Arch Linux- based GNU/Linux distribution focusing on speed and security optimizations, has been announced. It is stated that the new version of the distribution, which can be used with KDE, GNOME, While it is stated that this is the 9th version this year, it is said to include improvements in hardware detection and infrastructure developments. It is stated that starting with this version, hardware detection will automatically use open NVIDIA modules, in the meantime, it is said that users can switch back to closed source modules by running the command It is also stated that the latest NVIDIA Beta driver (560) has been added after extensive testing, and it is said that this driver appears to be in stable condition after the second beta version. While it is stated that the Cosmic desktop environment can now be used for installation, it is stated that the upstream version (Alpha 1) will be followed for packaging. While it is stated that the new version, which is configured on the Linux kernel, adds a script to handle secure boot more easily, it is also stated that the version containing KDE Plasma , mesa uses NVIDIA pacman -S linux-cachyos-nvidia CachyOS also comes with both graphical and command-line installers and provides a Firefox-based browser (called Cachy-Browser) with some security improvements and performance optimizations.
