Emma arrived at Southwest Wildlife in 2016 with sustained head trauma from an unknown cause. As a result of her injuries, she is deaf and has a permanent head tilt. She couldn't survive on her own in the wild with her disability, so Southwest Wildlife welcomed her into the sanctuary with open arms. Her wild upbringing gave her a natural distaste for her human caregivers. This made her a prime candidate to become a foster mom: a special sanctuary resident to raise orphaned bobcat kittens every summer. Since her debut in 2017, Emma has cared for several litters of kittens who have been successfully released back into the wild. Enjoy this video of her meeting her 2022 litter for the first time!
