A year ago today, historic wildfires ripped through Maui, destroying over 2,000 structures and taking 102 lives. One year has gone by, and many families remain displaced. True accountability for the many failures that led to this tragedy, and the failure in the response, has yet to occur. Many longstanding underlying issues still need to be addressed.
