L/S troops in trenches. 01:00:46 Opening Titles - “Time to remember - a programme to take you back, however young you may be - recalled by Stanley Holloway“. 01:01:09 C/U soldier's foot in deep mud. C/U barbed wire. Corpse of dead soldiers lying in wet ground. Soldiers carrying injured man on stretcher. Medics treating injured men in trench. They appear to be bandaging minor wounds. 01:01:33 Title “1916 - The Better 'Ole“. 01:01:40 Troops marching (they are wearing tam'o'shanters and may be Scottish). A sighted young man (possibly a boy scout) climbs in to assist him. Injured men sitting around table outside doing basket weaving. Blind men doing macramé. Captured German plane (with wings removed) towed along as part of the parade. 01:07:44 Young army cadets and Boy Scouts in parade. Mayor of Hackney reading speech. In front of him is a ceremonial mace. Next to him is seated a soldier (according to the paperwork this is a ceremony for a Victoria Cross winner). Cut away to large crowd waving and cheering. VC winner stands up and removes his hat. He is about to make a speech. 01:08:08 Labour Party and trades union procession. Lots of elaborate banners are being carried.
