Brothers in running! We hope your running season is going great and you always reach finish line of cool races and level up personal records. In 3 weeks, we will all be watching with bated breath the elite athletes at the Olympic Games in Paris. And here's what we have in Uganda... A few village runners dream of running their first marathon in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Two months ago, they were unable to go to the marathon in Masaka, as they had absolutely nothing to run in, but they do not betray their dreams and train hard. Now their goal is the Rwenzori Marathon in Kasese on August 24. But there is still nothing to wear. There are no running shoes, no shorts, and no money to travel halfway across the country. Yesterday they made a long run and recorded a video asking for help with running equipment and organizing a trip to the Rwenzori Marathon. They themselves are embarrassed to speak directly about their needs on camera, since they are accustomed to being content with little in life and not asking unless being in a desperate need. But we are sure that their dreams are worth helping them. Let's do this all together! Harambe, as they call it in Swahili. Very little is needed: - running shoes (6 pairs) - decent running shorts (6 pairs) - fuel for the trip from Jinja to Kasese and back (~400 USD) - 3 rooms in a guest house to rent for 2 nights (~300 USD) We will provide food and water ourselves. Behind the scenes there are still about ten local guys whom we train, but they have just recently started training. Six guys are ready for the marathon. Therefore, we ask you to help equip at least these six who are ready. We recently launched the “Let's raise Olympians“ program. It's about supporting these exact young athletes. We are expecting help from US runners, but it will only arrive in winter. We ask you to urgently send by airmail (there is FedEx in Uganda, by the way) several pairs of sneakers and clothes (second hand is also suitable, of course) and, if possible, make a donation to organize the transfer. We have a van, but petrol is very expensive in Uganda. We will also rent budget rooms in a guest house for 2 nights. Please follow “Let's raise Olympians“ page and find out a little more about how we see the support program of these young talents in a broader context (you can also make a donation on this page):
