Hi! Today is the restoration of the Caucasian shashka. The condition of the blade is average, the rust turned out to be deep, but initially I thought it would be worse, the rust fell off in layers. Well, I'm starting to restore. The first duty was to dismantle a piece of old wood in place of the handle. The blade was dipped into a rust remover. I was pleased with the rivets: they are copper. There is a hope that the blade is old. After cleaning the blade, I started the “sanding”. I didn't use a single cm of sandpaper. I chose different methods, it took a long time, but the whole story is preserved on the surface of the blade. After cleaning, the stamp “wolf” (there are many types and names, each master is represented in his own way)” was found — a common stamp on saber shashkas in the Caucasus. The second name of “Ters-maimun” or the roaring monkey. The brand comes from the German city of Passau, which was famous back in the 14th century. After cleaning the blade, I started creating the handle. For the handle, I chose a classic object — a buffalo horn. And brass rivets. The scabbard was made of dry beech wood, and I selected natural leather for the scabbard. I decided to use red leather for additional details. The accessories of the scabbard are made of brass and aged. I sharpened the checker, conducted an interesting test that you have been waiting for so long. Don't forget to share this video! Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
